Carolyn

Carolyn believes that poetry is meant to be shared out loud. She has been writing and listening to poetry since her Mom started reading her Longfellow in place of bedtime stories. When her Dad got a Microsoft Encarta CD in the mail, thinking, “What can this do that a print encyclopedia can’t?”, she immediately looked up her favorite poet, clicked the speaker, and heard a poem in the poet’s own voice. She’s been hooked ever since. After moving to CA, she started attending DPL open mics weekly in 2010 and fell in love with the community she found there. Carolyn hopes to help continue the DPL legacy of providing a place where people can be heard, work on their craft, and listen to each other, while growing it into an organization that does even more to serve poets and draws an even broader audience into this wonder.
